Ideas: April 2026 Release

THE MOTIVATION

The ideas section is a place to offload and share various ideas I’ve come up. Overall, these ideas serve to share the kind of practical imagination I have but also to share the journey into the future:

3D printing organs

One of the biggest issues with 3D printing organs today is keeping the cells alive during the printing process. Here’s my approach: 3D print tissues by using an inket printer that lays down the support material and vascularize it similar to the way support structures are used in 3d printed objects today. So there’s a opening at the bottom of print bed that pumps in oxygen/nutrients and the tissue is built around it. It uses a branching bottom up structure to keep oxygen/nutrients perfusing through the tissue throughout the print. The perfusion liquid then leaves the openings at the top of the print. Perfusion pauses while the next layer is being printed, the excess liquid is wiped/blown away, and then the next layer is printed. The vasculature won’t match a native organ but it would still work.

Transparent Car Window Display

What if the side window on a car had a transparent display built into it. When you use your left turn signal part of the left window becomes a display of what’s on the left side fed from a camera. The camera sees everything from you immediately left to left behind you.

Pokemon gamified version of microscope creatures

Uses human captured images to train a neural net to automatically identify creature. And it’s gamified so that you try to find all known species of microscopic creatures. If it’s unknown, you have incentives to label it because you get credit for it. Doesn’t need a fully automated microscope just a camera connected pocket microscope that connects with smartphone or tablet

Shared appreciation mortgage

Buy a house and don’t pay interest payments, you do repay the principal plus a fraction of how much the house appreciates in value for a set period of time. I came up with this on my own but apparently it’s already a thing called the shared appreciation mortgage.

AI smart camera triggers

Imagine asking siri to take a photo when everyone is smiling and not blinking or if you’re doing an inspection to take a photo when the robot looks at a dial. Sure you could take a video instead but you don’t get the full resolution of a photo.

Ipad shortcut buttons

iPad should have one or more physical customizable quick action buttons like on the iphone. One good use is to quickly open up a new note to turn the iPad into writing paper.

Wearable talking indicator

Maybe one of the hurdles to using voice assistants in public is that there’s no signal that shows you’re taking to the assistant. Being on the phone in public talking is fine because everyone can see you’re holding the phone. What if there was a visual indicator like a light that shows you’re talking to the voice assistant. Could be particularly good with smart glasses, like the rim of the glasses glow. Could be useful on a call as well.

Manual trigger for Tesla top down view

There should be a way to manually trigger the Tesla top down view. Currently when I’m parking the car in a parking lot, going forward it doesn’t engage until I’m already parked part of the way. It’d be a lot more useful if it was on while I’m making the insertion.

Tesla external microphone array

Tesla should have an external directional microphone array to listen for sounds while self-driving. Currently it just uses a single microphone inside the cabin for self-driving.

Variably inflatable blanket to regulate temperature

Could be a grid where the holes close up when inflated and open when deflated. Temperature sensors adjust to users preferences.

Live chat highlight feature

If live chat is just a single chain, hovering over or tapping a person’s name should highlight all their messages. This makes it much easier to follow a conversation.

Enhanced hold assist

Improve hold assist function by sampling all the time you’re on hold so that the AI learns what’s false, this way it can better detect the outlier when someone actually picks up. You might need to manually start the sampling process, but it makes it much more robust against stuff like recorded dialogue during the hold period. Or another way is if there’s a false pickup, you can tell the AI that it was a false pickup.

Cellular environment

Maybe the reason why cells act differently when taken out of their native environment is because they’re designed to work only in their environment, so that if a skin cell ends up in the liver, it dies/becomes quiescent/etc rather than grows, keeping tissues structurally distinct.
