Ideas: November 2026 Release

Jul 2026 - Nov 2026

THE MOTIVATION

The ideas section is a place to offload and share various ideas I’ve come up. Overall, these ideas serve to share the kind of practical imagination I have but also to share the journey into the future:

Proactive harm bounty

What if I paid people to rat out people who intend to hurt me, family, or friends. Kind of like a bug bounty for harm. What’s interesting is that you don’t need to be super rich to be protected if everyone knows you’re willing to shell out $10,000 for information. Could be a website that has your portfolio with the agreed upon reward and could help manage the deal like how much to pay out or managing false tips. This plays on an inherent weakness in good vs evil is that there’s less loyalty in evil.

360 cameras on tanks

Currently if tank crews want to look around them they need to turn the turret or the various periscopes around as well, scanning around them, which is painfully slow and incredibly poor situational awareness. Why not put cameras all around the tank so that you can instantly get a 360 assessment? Well, it turns out it’s such a good idea it’ll be incorporated into the US’s next generation tank the M1E3 Abrams.

Entangled particles sync’d but not connected

I was thinking about how quantum entanglement works about how basically both particles behave the same way after they’re entangled. And I wondered what if they’d sync’d but not connected similar to how random number generators when given the same seed will produce the same sequence of random numbers, at some fundamental level they get sync’d. Well, apparently this is such a good thought it’s a major class of theories physicists have investigated called “local hidden-variable theory.” It’s been since disproven, but still an interesting thought.

Face based auto-rotation

I’ve used an iPhone for my entire life and have also pretty much my entire life left the auto-rotation locked, because every time I lay in bed on my side I don’t want the phone switching to landscape mode. However, what if the phone tracked the orientation of your face relative to the phone to determine whether it’s in portrait or landscape? Well, it turns out Samsung developed this idea nearly a decade ago and Google pixels have also had it implemented, Apple is just super late to the game.

Fuel transfer in space

I was thinking about how SpaceX hasn’t performed space based refueling and how important it is to being able to reach the rest of the solar system, and kicked around a few ideas. It varies from a plunger like syringe, connecting the two tanks in a loop, adding a fan inside the fuel tank to blow fuel to one side. But working with AI, the best solution I’ve come up with is a internal fin that rotates in the fuel tank (it’s almost the length and width of the tank) that pushes liquid fuel to the walls via centripetal acceleration and uses tapered fuel tank walls so that the liquid fuel wants to collect at the larger end. There’s a lot of ways to do this, but at least this is an interesting take.

Clinical trial anti-placebo effect

What if instead of a 50-50 split between the control and treatment group, you were more likely to get the placebo. I bring this up because a clinical trial for a osteoarthritis drug for knee pain failed because the control group improved as much as the treatment group, all through the placebo effect. But if the expectation is nothing will change, then the control group should behave more like a control group. And if the expectation is that nothing will change and something improves, that’s a much stronger signal for the treatment. There are some issues like the expectation of being on the placebo may make the treatment effect smaller and there’s the ethical question of putting so many more people in the control group where you give them nothing, but maybe this has some teeth.

Emergency neck collar

What if motorcyclists and bicyclers had an inflatable neck collar that during an accident came out of the helmet or a vest that they wore to absorb the crushing force or sideways force on their neck? Or what if instead of a inflatable neck collar, the neck collar was filled with a non-newtonian fluid that allowed normal movement but with sudden force stiffened up? Well, it turns out there are some patents for this already for these ideas. However, there’s a third way to do this that hasn’t been conceived of yet, that I’ll leave unpublished for the time being.

Circle offline maps selection

A really strange thing I’ve noticed with both Google and Apple maps is that you select what area to download offline maps for is a rectangle with the aspect ratio of the display. It makes way more sense for it to be a circle from some central point probably around your home. Also AI suggested in interesting idea where you download offline maps based around a route.

Pest hunter bot

Robotics have matured to the point where a hunter bot that actively eliminates pests is feasible. Not sure if this will be the beginnings of Skynet, but I’ll be very satisfied when the first hunter bot catches a spider or cockroach crawling around my room.

Localized Tesla FSD

What if Tesla instead of creating one giant FSD package to drive around the world creates localized versions say per country or region? This would shrink the model size and keep it functioning with old hardware.

Historical blood banking

Basically labs would collect extra blood that they can pull from storage like a snapshot in time. This extra blood could be used to run new lab tests if they’re required without needing another blood draw, but also if people develop diseases/illnesses could sell old reserves of blood to research organizations to develop blood tests for it. This massive blood banking initiative could be similar to a one time push like the human genome project or whenever we develop new waves of diagnostics. And apparently it’s such a good idea the UK does this called the UK Biobank.

ethical reason for cloning

If you’re infertile, you should be allowed to clone yourself. Having genetically related children is important to a lot of people, and if they can’t produce viable eggs or sperm this is likely the only reasonable way.

Government entrepreneurship support

The government should offer free services like legal support, accounting support, and etc for people starting new businesses. Because starting a new business is scary hard enough without having to deal with all the legal, financial, and other hoops you have to jump through. Could be limited to 12 hours a year per person, then paid after that. Or could also be limited to low income individuals. I say this because when I started my first business a while back, the government help was pretty limited covering only the most basic of issues.

Temperature controlled baby cribs

Relying on layering just the right amount on a baby to keep them comfortable is just archaic. They can’t say when it’s too hot or too cold, and they can’t do anything about it once they’re stuck there. Also over bundling a baby and causing heatstroke is a major factor for sudden infant death syndrome or SIDS. Ultimately this idea could be extended to other places where the baby spends time like a strollers and etc.
